  16. WordPerfect 1.01 for NeXT will Support NeXTSTEP for Intel Processors

  18. Orem, Utah - March 16, 1993 - WordPerfect Corporation today announced plans to
  19. include support for NeXTSTEP for Intel Processors in the upcoming interim
  20. release of WordPerfect 1.01 for NeXT.  The interim release will be available
  21. concurrent with the release of NeXTSTEP for Intel processors which is
  22. scheduled to ship on May 25, 1993.

  24. "With this interim release, our intent is to update WordPerfect's NeXTSTEP and
  25. Intel support," said Gordon Mella, UNIX product marketing manager at
  26. WordPerfect Corporation.  "NeXTSTEP for Intel processors offers software
  27. developers new opportunities to improve on existing software products.  We
  28. want to capitalize on those opportunities and provide the latest word
  29. processing technology for our NeXT users."

  31. The WordPerfect for NeXT interim release will not affect the current version
  32. number (1.01), but it will include two key new features that take advantage of
  33. NeXTSTEP 3.0 technology.

  35. WordPerfect for NeXT's new drag and drop feature allows users to move blocks
  36. of text and graphics with a mouse.  The interim release will also include the
  37. Integrated Help System for quicker, easier on-line help.

  39. "Productivity software is an important component of NeXT's strategy to provide
  40. a client environment that fully integrates shrink wrapped applications with
  41. custom applications and legacy systems," said Julie Saffren, NeXT developer
  42. advocate.  "We are very pleased that WordPerfect Corporation plans to continue
  43. to support NeXTSTEP customers with current and next generation products."

  46. continue development on a future version of WordPerfect for NeXT that will be
  47. feature and file compatible with its DOS and Windows counterparts," Mella
  48. said.
